  • And this is why I love Microsoft

Ok so I don't love everything about Microsoft. I hated that they took away my Start Menu. I hate that they're overcharging for an inferior Xbox One. I hate them for being so slow with Windows Phone updates. And I hate them for creating a unified Win8 system, that isn't really unified...but rather is fragmented across Desktop, Tablet, Phone, and TapTop/DeskLet combo monstrosities. But all of this has been due to their ineptitude. They do have a few brilliant ideas though. They've just started selling "Don't get Scroogled" merchandise on the actual windows store. Check it out here:

I am definitely going to buy this when it's back in stock:

It's pretty accurate though if you've been following what Google's been doing the past few years, including several successful lawsuits against them. I love that the mugs were sold out already. :P

The difference is MS willingly gives what they collect to the NSA

Nice, im actually at a point in my life where I hate google more than I hate MS. Never thought that would happen. But between youtube changes which are inexcusably stupid, inexcusably stupid gmail changes, painfully stupid android changes and their but buddy relationship with the government I can't stand google. They have their hands in too many places and the stuff of theirs I use it never improves only gets shittier.

It's funny because I used to hate Microsoft for that reason back in the day, and used to be the biggest Google fanboy. But just as you said...hand in too many places and I have trouble trusting them. And then there's my absolute hatred for Android. I left my Nvidia Shield on Standby yesterday. I had used it to watch some VEVO videos while I prepared for work (really good speakers on it). I hit the home button to go to the main screen. Close the lid. It was at 98% battery life when I left it. Come home at night and pick it up, only to notice that the unit is hot. Turns out something was running in the background and had completely drained the battery. How is this possible? Well...apparently because Android doesn't use save state like WinMo and iOS. It's that kind of ridiculous un-userfriendliness that makes me hate the device. And I'm sure some fans will come and tell me I can download this app and that app to manage and kill off unused apps/etc...but at the end of the day, I shouldn't have to. I close the lid, you put the device to sleep. That's how laptops work. It's how WinMo works. It's how my iOS devices work.

Sorry. I have a major hateon for Android. -_-

Its greatest strengths double as weaknesses. But yes, it is unfortunate we don't get the needed development attention for specific devices from the company, but you start using custom stuff on xda, and you're really better off.

And yet...oddly enough it has less control/customization than you get in a Windows system while touting it as its biggest plus, while failing to do what other OS's can do when it comes to app management. It really comes down to that old adage, I think. Less is more. For example...I love having absolute control over my PC. However...the very limited iOS system does everything I want it to do. With a few exceptions that are unlocked with a jailbreak. Android is too much of a mess, imo. And it's similar to the issue of Mantle vs. DirectX. By creating an OS catered to 1000's of devices and hardware combinations, it's not as efficient as an OS designed for a small selection of devices with minimum requirements.

Well, iOS now is fairly good yes, but it took a LONG time for features to be pretty much copied from jailbreak users into official versions.

But Android...I think the better way to phrase it is, YMMV. Like I said with the customization, you get a Nexus 4, and there are alot of smart people working on that, because it's not locked down, and you get sources. Samsung devices, are much more difficult and they do not always release source, and so development is shit. Sony is supposed to be fairly close to Nexus status.

But I heavily disagree about less customization, in some cases. I have so many options with my N4 its crazy. HALO, PIE controls, I can chose a different launcher, why not even go with Ubuntu phone?
